Seth Neeley

Welcome!

This is the portfolio website of Seth Neeley: educator, technologist, photographer

My biggest passions include lifelong learning and experiencing new adventures. I have lived abroad for several years and traveled to many places because of my love of cultural differences and beautiful landscapes. I find the act of creating something most gratifying, whether it is through my design, ukulele, block printing, photography, video compilations, or even just something simple like writing a postcard. Follow the links to see some interactive projects I have created, video walk-throughs of university courses I have designed, and other tidbits from my personal and professional life. I'm always out photographing something new or creating new learning modules, so there will be regular updates with some of my current projects.

February 2023 Update

It's pretty cool that the CDC just promoted a course which I worked months on developing last year called How to Be Anti-racist in the Everyday Practice of Public Health! I've been at the Region V Public Health Training Center at the University of Michigan for 4.5 years now and a few months ago they promoted me to instructional designer senior. It's been a good work year!

October 2022 Update

I've published my third children's book! Little Baby Cardinal was inspired by our bird feeder during the pandemic quarantine. We loved seeing the beautiful and colorful birds which would visit everyday while we were working from home. I took a different route for the imagery here instead of block printing and used paper cuts to assemble the birds and scenes. It was fun working with a different medium and I am inspired to continue work on more projects. This book is dedicated to my lovely 2 year old daughter Mei!

May 2022 Update

I've been with the Region V Public Health Training Center at the University of Michigan for nearly four years already! The time has flown because mid-way through is when the pandemic started. Reflecting on my time here, I have published 16 self-paced training modules, two resource guides, a podcast, and assisted with many videos, podcasts, webinars, microlearnings, conferences, and internal professional development modules.  I look forward to the growth opportunities and challenges which will come with the new grant cycle!

July 2019 Update

It is my one-year anniversary with the Region V Public Health Training Center at the University of Michigan! In the past year, I have published four courses and in the next grant-year I will have four more. December 2018 Update

This really should have been a July/August update, but things have been busy! I started work at the University of Michigan as an Instructional Designer for this summer for the School of Public Health. Our move back to the US went well and we are now living in Ann Arbor. This autumn I released my first Canvas course at work on Interprofessional Education. I am currently working on a course for Fundamental Learning Objectives of Public Health which will be quite comprehensive.

June 2018 Update

Here is my final article for BOLT News on migrating from a blended to a fully online course using the BOLT project as my example. I am now finished at PolyU and have been interviewing with several universities in Michigan. I will likely be flying back sometime during the month of July. It has been a great experience, living and working in Hong Kong over the past four years. There is a lot to do, but I still have a couple weeks to enjoy Hong Kong!

April 2018 Update

After months of waiting for the final assessment, I have been awarded my CMALT certification for the Association of Learning Technology! It is my first certification in the learning design field, so it's nice to continue my education. The Chief Executive of ALT, Maren Deepwell, blogged about it: https://altc.alt.ac.uk/blog/2018/05/chief-executive-officers-report-may-2018/ In other news, we recently took a European holiday over Easter to visit my wife's family in Den Haag, a little excursion to Belgium, and three days in Paris. Here are the highlights from our trip! https://youtu.be/uFAHe1isV-s
